Beautiful girl alone in river.

Shot the stock image below years ago,part for stock and part for client, been used a couple of times but late last year I had a client keen to use the pic for some promotional publications. All’s good the designer is happy, I’m happy with the price and then the wheels come off. Apparently management see the shot, have an emergency meeting and decide to can it. “Because it is sexist and demeaning to women.” We can’t possibly use it. Does he have the same shot with a male model instead?

So stuff happens, and we get over it, but I can’t help wondering if I’d used a male model, wouldn’t that also be sexist because I was favoring one gender over the other? The solution of course would be to have a guy and a girl together, but then of course that could be racist if both where white. So I guess the solution is to have a pair of Caucasian models, a couple of Asians and two African models then of course we would need the same numbers again with varying physical disabilities, add another lot with mental disadvantages, plus another group of aged and then of course yet another group of young kids, all suitable model released and with permission from their respective schools.

By now I would have a fairly big group of people with different cultural needs, so would also need multicultural advisers, caterers trained in providing the correct diversity of diet for the varying individuals, crowd controllers, assorted medical staff and last but not least permission from the government department in charge of controlling river flow. Because when all that lot line up across the river for the shot, I’m afraid there will be a blockage to normal river flows.

All this just to create a picture of someone standing alone in the middle of nowhere to convey a sense of freedom…..
